Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor known for her performance as the spirited attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. Following her marriage the actress is now known by the name Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an inclination toward acting since when she was a child and won a Best Actress prize at an Maryland high-school competition. Contractor, a Mumbai-born Indian, who lived in Nigeria from the time she was seven years old. knew a great deal about world cultures and traveling at such a young stage. After a single year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the show Pericles in the highly regarded and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the lead role. After 92 performances, she received praise from the audience. This play was named the top production by Canadian the critics. The actress accepted an invitation to join Stratford's conservatory. It is a place that allows only four males and eight women are able to take a 20 weeks crash program in classical theatre.
